Kittens require a course consisting of two primary vaccinations. The first vaccination is generally done at 9 weeks of age with the second vaccination at 12 weeks of age. Boosters are recommended annually.
Vaccinations protect against a wide range of contractible diseases including:
Feline Calicivirus, Feline Herpes Virus, Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Leukaemia Virus
If you are going to have an indoor cat should you vaccinate?
Weigh up the risks, if you are able to guarantee that your cat/kitten will never come into contact with other cats (for example if you live on the top floor of a block of flats with no other cats around) then the risk is reduced considerably. If your cat could potentially come into contact with other cats then it is advisable to vaccinate him/her, even if it is just outside your house.
